84 Computing has the following code of ethics:

1. We do not provide service to undercut fellow colleagues or consulting firms

Everyone knows somebody to a degree especially in the local Information Technology industry.
This produces a comradery of sorts that can be both beneficial and have its drawbacks.

The drawback being decisions or agreements that come back to haunt you in the future.
Technology jobs are increasingly difficult to sustain as a full time employee due to outsourcing

in other countries and a headstrong attitude towards a company's bottom line. If you're choosing
84 Computing to indirectly eliminate an otherwise reliable and talented employee or consultant,
we then ask you to please exercise your best judgment and follow your conscience. We value any opportunity to work for any client, but we also reserve the right to refuse or discontinue service due to unethical business decisions.

2. We will not jeopardize our reputation or business by overlooking the obvious

Software licensing and compliance should be of utmost importance to any company both small
and large, including home-based businesses. Many think nothing of buying one copy of a software product, or borrowing one from a friend or relative and installing it on all of their business computers. The consequences of doing such a thing can put your business at risk of very large fines if an audit were in place by The Business Software Alliance (BSA). Click here for the BSA Website
Most are not aware the first step towards a BSA audit can be simply set into motion anonymously
via the BSA website. Depending upon your current or past business relations, employee history
or company computer policy, the following two examples could put your business at extreme risk.
You have a former disgruntled employee who is aware of your company's software practices,
yet you have never attempted (or blatantly ignored) compliance in licensing - You are unaware
of or don't normally keep track of what an employee may have installed on your computer(s).
Obviously, most would want to avoid these risk factors altogether. If 84 Computing discovers any licensing discrepancies within your organization while providing service, you will be informed confidentially and given the opportunity to take advantage of possible alternate solutions that
are free, open source or more affordable by utilizing our Software Licensing Compliance service. However, if we are instructed to overlook or otherwise ignore what may be deemed as unlicensed
or non-compliant, we reserve the right to refuse or discontinue service.
