84 Computing was originally conceived as an idea in early 2004 and is owned and operated by Eric Allison who has been a resident of Eighty Four Pennsylvania since 1993. Mr. Allison has
been professionally involved within Information Technology since 1995 and has worked as a full time employee for such notable companies as Kaufmanns, Equitable Gas, SKC Incorporated
and 84 Lumber. Mr. Allison's primary duties included Systems Administration, Network Support, End-User Training and intermediate Electronic Repair. Throughout 2004 to 2006 he has worked
as a part time independent contactor for small businesses and individuals, performing tasks ranging from wireless network security, design and construction of digital video editing workstations, DNS & hosting management and deployment of IP based network surveillance servers & cameras. He is a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in the following technologies:

-    Implementing and Administering Windows Active Directory
-    Implementing, Deploying and Administering Windows XP Professional
-    Microsoft A+ Certified

In addition to the above, Mr. Allison is also ISO-9002 certified, OSHA certified, and has held an Advanced Class license in Amateur radio since 1995
.

A large portion of Mr. Allison's knowledge of technology comes from self-education and years
of on-the-job experience, the latter being what he describes as "The School of Hard Knox".
He understands and is aware that not all problems can be resolved by textbook answers or solutions, and, in most situations there are several alternate ways to complete a task.
He first became interested in computers in 1992 and was mentored by his friend who worked
as a Systems Administrator for the IRS located in downtown Pittsburgh. Having a fascination
with electronics since childhood and the insatiable desire to know how and why things work,
he spent countless hours of his own time learning the intricacies of hardware, software and operating systems. Soon after, he was building his own computers, creating Linux file servers, tinkering with exotic operating systems such as QNX, then ultimately being called upon to resolve some of his mentors' own computer problems. Since then, and having armed himself with many years of diverse and technological experiences, as well as a genuine desire to help small businesses and home users, 84 Computing was born.
